Exhibit K is the work of Melbourne independent jeweller Karla Way
The collection utilises polyurethane resin, semi precious gems, sterling silver and 9ct gold.
The concept is fictitious archaeology, and the collection references the natural world - fauna, flora and geological anomalies with mysterious histories. The muted, monochrome palette suggests timelessness, appearing bleached or blackened over time, the place of origin is ambiguous.
The textures evoke those of primitive materials such as stone, wood and fur.
Karla Way is an independent jeweller situated in the Nicholas Building in Melbourne.
She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Gold and Silversmithing with Honours in 2007.
Exhibit K is currently retailing at Alice Euphemia, Craft Victoria and Fat in Melbourne, and Gaffa Gallery in Sydney.
