Kirsty Hulm

Kirsty Hulm is a shapeshifter that works in a diverse array of media
and exhibition formats, responding to spaces, influences and cultures
with a fluidity which can make it hard to describe the full breadth of
her practice.

Formats for exhibition have included drawing, sculpture, neon, written
word, tattoo, installation, letter writing, metals and ephemeral
matter and has spanned, fine jewellery, product design, interior
design and curated Happenings to name but a few of her exploits.

Hulm makes each installation/set of investigations specifically for
the environment, circumstances, social value, anxieties and needs she
identifies surrounding each particular invitation for exhibition.

Employing methods to camouflage and expose the ego, Hulm's work is
challenging and revealing whilst maintaining a lyrical and playful
nature. Hulm has been featured in past exhibitions at the Monash
Museum of Art, Burning Man Festival, Folk Rhythm and Life Festival,
Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, business cards in a wallet near
you, No Vacancy Gallery, Blindside Gallery, Format Gallery, Billboard
Nightclub, The Men’s Gallery, www.ebay.com, Penthouse Mouse Guerrilla
Sites, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Criterion Gallery, Cast Gallery, Un
Magazine and DayFour Magazine, and on the streets whispering things to
passers by.

Hulm is also a regular contributor to Un Magazine, Das Super Paper and
Day Four photographic journal and has recently opened a new concept
space for artists, #1 Creep Show, 136 Lygon St, Brunswick.
