Matthew Linde

Matthew Linde is currently completing his fourth year in the Bachelor of Design (Fashion) degree at RMIT and works within an assemblage of disciplines in an attempt to understand the seduction and spectacle of ‘style’. Appointing performative devices, Matthew engages in establishing spaces that invite the viewer to participate in the ‘style’.

Matthew presents 'OfficeWorks' for Penthouse Mouse 2012:

The office operates as a zone for the production of formality. Antipodal to that of the studio or laboratory, the office is mechanic, performing administrative tasks to ensure regularity and conservancy. This formality is aestheticized in modern-day offices through the coordinationof technologies and machinery. Engaging with this hyper- aesthetic of the office, ‘OfficeWorks’ borrows these technological tropes of thebusiness workplace (such as the computer, fan, stationary) and uses them ill fittingly. ‘OfficeWorks’ aims to create a debased office space, challenging how these machinery and technologies are encountered with, undermining the formality of the office.
