UMBILICAL VENTRILOQUIAL
Trimapee have once again collaborated with well re-known Australian fashion photographer Christian Blanchard and Filmmaker Steven Protuder for their second fashion film expedition featuring Trimapee’s AW 11 collection.
Unlike their debut collaboration “A N I M A L I A”, the film explores a fashion and beauty narrative, leaving behind the highly conceptual art-house genre. Although very conceptual in it’s approach, the film’s core focus is to create a beautiful serene mood, disturbed by a series of turbulent scenes produced through amazing post-production effects.
Trimäpee’s FALL 2011 Collection “Umbilical Ventriloquial “ is inspired by one of the most amazing gifts of all - the nature and science of birth. From the intriguing way an offspring grows and feeds, to the uncanny bond, which is shared; Trimäpee explores the physical connection vs the innate connection between mother and child.
The collection is inspired by the notion of nurturing, comfort and support, by creating garments that shield and protect the wearer. Large collars and wrapped veils portray a sense of security, paired with guard-like strong, tailored forms and silhouettes. These sharp lines are juxtaposed with soft drapery and knitwear, to depict a more fluid and womb-like approach.
The film captures the mood and essence of the collection, highlighting the core concept – the beauty and intrigue of birth. Due to the ambiguous nature of this uni-sex collection, the film is shot with “twin-like” asexual beings, blurring the lines of gender, age and sexuality.
With a team of over 30 people, the cast and crew bring to life an amazing interpretation to the minds and concept of the Trimapee designers.
